Amazon's new Rakhi ad will make you miss your siblings. We're not crying. You're crying

Speed News Desk | Updated on: 11 February 2017, 7:49 IST

Living away from home, away from your siblings and have little to no hope of being able to see them this Rakhi? You might want to avoid this advert from Amazon in that case because there is no way you can get through this without crying.

The hero of this ad is this adorable elderly father who lives in Mughalsarai, while his sister lives in Delhi. As he's packing his suitcase to visit her, his son tries his best to dissuade his father. "Gift hi toh dena hai na", says the son, who clearly resents the festival. While he tries to coax his father into giving up the trip and ordering a gift from Amazon, the father turns around to explain just why he needs to physically be there to give his sister the present he's bought for her.

"Uske toohe (dimples) toh nahi dekh paaonga na," he explains, as his son finally gets the point. Watching this elderly man fighting to be allowed to meet his sister - it's difficult not to think about our own generation and how cynical we are of our festivals. If nothing else, at least it forces us to take a break from our busy schedules and take out a little time for our families.

Watch the ad here, and do keep a box of tissues handy.
