Something huge is happening in Poland, though your favourite local news agency may not be making a big deal about it.
Hundreds of thousands of women took to the streets dressed in dark clothes to protest the proposed government plan to ban abortion.
Under the current Polish law, abortion is banned unless it's a life threatening situation for the woman, the fetus cannot survive, or if the pregnancy is a result of incest or rape. Under the proposed ban, abortion under any circumstance would result in five years imprisonment for the women and their doctors.
Which is monumentally stupid, life endangering, and an invasion of one's right to live freely. Scratch that. The invasion of a woman's right to live freely. Only a woman's though, because men make 'laws' or something like that.
This is precisely why we need gender equality everyone.
The proposed ban on abortion - supported by the ruling party Law and Justice (PiS) - has met with widespread denunciation and on 3 October, Black Monday to the Polish women, the protest spilled onto the streets.
Hard to believe that we're still doing this in 2016. A peek at the protestors, and their supporters on social media:

For those who are really obtuse and confused about why women are protesting, here's the thing:
