Kolkata Knight Riders began their IPL 2016 campaign on Sunday, 10 April, with a comfortable 9-wicket win over Delhi Daredevils at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Chasing a target of 99, the Gautam Gambhir-captained side began well, with the skipper and Robin Uthappa putting together a steady opening partnership.
Uthappa, however, failed to finish things off for his team, as he was caught out by Chris Morris from an Amit Mishra delivery. He had scored 35 runs.
Gambhir and Pandey continued to keep the runs flowing following Uthappa's dismissal, and sealed the win in the 15th over.
Gambhir notched up 38 runs, while Pandey managed to get 15 on board.
Earlier, Delhi Daredevils had been bowled out by the hosts for a paltry total of 98 runs.
