In Odisha's Kendrapara district, a 33-year-old school teacher Saroj Kanta Biswal set an example for many groom and family who demand huge dowry from bride's family.

Instead of asking for lakhs of rupees, vehicle and gold, Biswal asked for saplings as dowry. He received some 1001 sapling as a wedding gift.

When asked the groom Biswal, why he asked for this unusual gift, he said, "Since childhood days he was a nature lover. I was opposed to dowry system in marriage,"

He also added that he is a nature lover since childhood and insisted on receiving 1001 saplings of fruit-bearing trees.  The wedding took place on Saturday in an austere manner without firecracker or grandeur.
