Heena Sidhu: First Indian shooter to reach number one in the World ranking

Heena Sidhu is a professional sports shooter in India. Sidhu was the first Indian shooter to reach the number one spot in the world ranking on 7 April 2014. When it comes to education, Heena had done bachelor in the Dental surgery.

When it comes to shooting as a professional career, not just Sidhu but even her father was a sports shooter of national level. Heena Sidhu's brother is also a professional shooter and he takes part in the 10 metre air pistol event. Sidhu's husband Ronak Pandit, with whom she got married on 7 February 2013, is also a pistol shooter. Heena Sidhu lives in Goregaon, Mumbai.

Heena Sidhu's first step in the professional shooting

Heena Sidhu started her professional journey of shooting in the year 2006, Sidhu was also a part of the Patiala Club. Sidhu had also taken part in the national games for both junior and senior teams. Heena Sidhu along with shooter Annu Raj Singh had won the gold medal in the 2010 commonwealth games in the women's air pistol in 10 metre. Sidhu and Raj Singh's win was 14th win for Indian side in the shooting. Heena Sidhu won the gold medal at the International Shooting Sports Federation World Cup Finals in Munich, Germany in 2013. Heena Sidhu had also qualified for the Summer Olympics of Rio in 2016 in the women's 10 metre air pistol and the women's 25 metre pistol events.

Heena Sidhu's achievements

Sidhu won a silver medal in the year 2009 at the ISSF (International Shooting Sports Federation) World Cup in Beijing.

Heena Sidhu had achieved the first spot at the national championship in Kerala in the women's 10 m air pistol event.

In 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China Sidhu had won silver medal along with Annu Raj Singh and Sonia Rai in the Women's 10m air pistol team.

In 2010 Commonwealth Games Sidhu along with Annu Raj Singh won the gold medal in the women's pairs 10 metre.

Sidhu had won a Silver medal at the singles event.

In the year 2012, Heena Sidhu was a part of Indian team in Summer Olympics of the London.

In the London Olympics Sidhu had finished at the twelfth spot in the qualification round. Sidhu had taken part in the women's 10 metre air pistol event.

In the film that was officially made for London Olympic Games, First: The Story of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Sidhu was the part of the film.

Heena Sidhu won the gold medal at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup Finals in Munich, Germany in 2013.

Heena Sidhu had also qualified for the Summer Olympics of Rio in 2016 in the women's 10 metre air pistol and the women's 25 metre pistol events

Sidhu had also participated in the Asian Air Gun Championships in Tehran in 2016, but she later pulled out from it because wearing hijab in the event was made mandatory.
