The NEET 2018 results were announced recently and Kalpana Kumari topped the Medical entrance exam. She has also topped the Bihar School Examination Board(BSEB) whose results were announced on Wednesday. The 18-year-old girl from Bihar has scored 434 marks out of 500 in the science stream. Kalpana, who prepared for her NEET Exam living in Delhi scored 691 marks out of 720 and secured 99.99 percentile in the Medical Entrance Examination.

Over 12 lakh students from Bihar appeared for the BSEB across the state at 1384 centres. The Bihar Board has witnessed a 15% surge in the pass percentage this year. The overall pass percentage is 52.95 per cent.

The Nitish Kumar government has announced Rs 1 lakh reward for the topper, Rs 75,000 for the second ranker and Rs 50,000 for the third rank holder. In addition to the prize money, the toppers will be given a laptop and Kindle e-reader. Students with fourth and fifth ranks will be given a laptop along with Rs 15,000.

The Bihar Board drew flak last year for the unfair means being used by candidates in the examination. However, the Bihar Board education officials have been strict and watching the examination process closely. Moreover, it was reported last month that over 30,000 to 40,000 students have written their partner’s roll number in the answer sheets instead of their own which was cited as a reason for the delay in declaration of results.
