A couple of days ago, Ahmed Khan confirmed that he would soon direct Akshay Kumar in a film to be produced by Firoz Nadiadwala. The announcement sparked rumours that the film would be a sequel to the 2002 film Awara Paagal Deewana.

According to media reports, Firoz Nadiadwala approached Vidyut Jammwal to play the parallel lead alongside Akshay Kumar in the film.

On being asked to comment about the film, Vidyut Jamwal told Catch that he was excited about the script for the sequel.

"Nothing is finalised about Awara Paagal Deewana 2, I have heard the script and we are just talking about what should be done and what should not be done. I am excited about the fact that it is a great script."

The actor, who played the villain in Thuppakki - which was later remade in Hindi as Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, missed out on working with Akshay Kumar in the Hindi remake as the shooting schedule clashed with his filming for Commando. The actor says:

"I missed out on opportunity to work with Akshay Kumar in Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty. I was occupied with Commando when Akshay Kumar and Murugadoss were shooting for Holiday, so if I would have gone ahead with Holiday, I would have missed out on solo hero film like Commando. But yes, I would love to work with him in a film. He is one of India's best action stars."
