Though the film witnessed a great start, however, it failed to break the record of ABCD 2 opening day. The film is high on music and drama with a pinch of patriotism. The film received applaud from the audience but failed to impress critics, according to them te film lacked storyline.

The traders expected a good start i.e they around 15 crores, however, failed to hit the box office and Tanhaji stands as the reason. The film has entered the 200 crore club and in Mumbai the competition is high.
