Make films without thinking about the censor board, says Vikas Bahl

Shaandaar director Vikas Bahl feels that one should make films without thinking about the Censor Board.

The censor board has always shared a bitter-sweet relationship with the film industry, making news with each cut. In fact, the board's decision to cut short a kissing scene in James Bond movie Spectre last week was ridiculed widely.

But the Queen director asserts that the industry is as relentless as the censor board.

"I think if the censor board is relentless, so are we. I don't think we ever give up. I don't think we have not done a film thinking what the censor board will think. You like the film then go do it," Bahl said on the sidelines of Film Bazaar here.

Bahl, who has also plunged into the business side of the film-making industry from the creative zone as a producer, shared his view while addressing a session "Vikas Bahl -- Choosing the film and positioning it right".

He said that as a producer, he was always on a look out for "unique stories".

"Whether it is the story, the screenplay or the way they are telling the story something has to be unique for me to spend time and energy in it. The fact that you keep experimenting with new story and new storytelling techniques is what excites me the most," Bahl said.

Bahl has Phantom Films in partnership with Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena. He also said he was in introspection mode to figure out the reason behind the debacle of his Shaandaar and rectify the mistake while moving on to other projects.
