Has Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt starrer Shamshera shelved?

Ranbir Kapoor is in the discussions for his next film Brahmastra and the film has finally pushed to 2020. Ayan Mukerji directorial Brahmastra will star Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna and others in the leading roles. The film was announced in December 2018 and now the film is going to release in 2020.

Meanwhile, another film of Ranbir Kapoor which was announced in 2018 'Shamshera' also starring Sanjay Dutt featuring as a villain in the film. Recently there were reports that the film which was scheduled to release on July 2020 is facing issues.

As per the reports doing the rounds, the dealy behind the Shamshera's shooting is due to Bhrahmastra's releasing date that is being delayed in succession.

There were the reports that Yash Raj Films has shelved this project as actors have no time to shoot for the film. However, recently YRF claimed that the film is still on cards and will release as per the scheduled date.

Shamshera is set in 1800 and will narrate the story of dacoits. Ranbir Kapoor will play dacoit's leader who will fight against the British government while Sanjay Dutt will play the leading villain. The film will be directed by Karan Malhotra and as per reports, Vaani Kapoor will also be part of the film as a leading lady.
