Your response to Udta Punjab and the acclaim you have received?
I am feeling very happy currently. It's been a very positive response till now. I am happy that the film managed to release. At the end of the day, you work really hard and try different things to get this reaction. So much has happened with regard to the film, it has been a difficult journey. Today is the day for me to just be grateful and happy to have gotten the opportunity to play this character because one does not get such chances often. I have to thank Shahid (Kapoor) because he was the one who sent me the script.
Do you think the business of the film has been affected by the leak online?
I really hope leak nahin hoti. It's really unfortunate and it should not happen with anyone's film ... that too just two days before the release. Yes, this has affected the film but still we have to be grateful that we are getting so much love and appreciation.

Are you expecting an award for this role?
I would be really happy if I get an award but right now audience's love is my reward.
Will you continue doing out-of-the-box roles?
I just pick up films on my instinct. I want to do different films, I want to do all kind of roles and enjoy doing them. I don't to limit myself to one kind.

Do you make suggestions to directors?
I am a director's actor but I also feel that if I don't give my suggestions I might regret it later. So I don't get into the director's space but I do suggest a few things. 90% of the time the director and I are on the same page and in case we are not, I tell him to take one more shot to have an option.
What have you learnt from Shah Rukh Khan while working in Gauri Shinde's forthcoming film?
While shooting with Shah Rukh, each and every day was a new lesson for me.
Have you been approached by Anand L Rai for his film with Shah Rukh Khan?

I am not saying anything right now because it's still in scripting mode. But I am definitely interested in the film. We are in talks. I can think of no better film to begin with my home banner than Aashiqui 3. I think it's a great subject.
You were also in talks for Dil Hain Ki Manta Nahi with them.
We had just said karenge. It's a film that you have to put together very carefully.
When will you start your next schedule of Badrinath ki Dulhania?
We will start in July. It's not a sequel to Humpty Sharman Ki Dulhania; it's a franchise with a different story but the same actors and the same director. One thing is common -- it's also a love story.
