The Dhoom franchise kick started way back in 2004 with John Abraham as the antagonist while Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra played the cops in the film.

In 2006, YRF came up with the second part, Dhoom 2, and went a notch higher by roping in Hrithik Roshan as the thief while retaining Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra. The film went on to be a huge blockbuster and Dhoom became one of the most recalled franchises in Bollywood.

Seven years after Dhoom 2, came Dhoom 3 with the most unexpected actor in the negative role -- Aamir Khan.

Yet again, the film was bigger and better than the previous Dhoom film in terms of scale and star cast.

Now we hear that YRF is already planning the fourth installment to the successful franchise and the production house is considering Salman Khan to play the lead in the film.

A source close to YRF revealed,

"YRF is simultaneously working on two action films; one will be Thug starring Hrithik Roshan and the other one is Dhoom 4. There have been many brain storming sessions regarding the plot of Dhoom 4. However, despite many interesting ideas, they are yet to finalise on one. Everyone from the team is of the opinion that Salman Khan should be a part of Dhoom 4 and take the franchise forward. There are plans to approach Salman Khan once the script is locked."
