Shaad Ali, the director of films like Saathiya, Bunty Aur Babli, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Kill Dill, is all set to direct a Bollywood adaptation of Mani Ratnam's classic, OK Kanmani.

Shaad is known to experiment and all his films belong to different genres. His Saathiya, which was a modern era romantic film, earned him a lot of plaudits.

His latest venture is from the same genre and the director has signed the Aashiqui 2 pair, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The film goes on floors in March 2016.

It will be released in the last quarter of 2016 as the shooting is expected to be wrapped up by May end - early June.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Aditya Roy Kapoor confirmed the development, and said,

"We begin shooting for OK Kanmani Remake from March first week. It will release this year itself."

What is OK Kanmani about?

The film is a mature love story about a couple who agree that marriage is not for them and decide to enjoy a live-in relationship instead. Later, career opportunities act as hurdles in their relationship.

Trivia:

Shaad Ali's directorial debut, Saathiya was also a remake of the Mani Ratnam classic, Alaipayuthey. It would be interesting to see if history repeats itself!
