In a bizarre incident, a woman got banned from entering the zoo in Antwerp after she has fallen in love with a zoo animal.

The incident has been reported in Antwerp. According to media reports, the Zoo has barred a Belgian woman after officials came to know that she had been spending too much time with a chimpanzee in the zoo. When zoo authority confronted her, the woman claimed that she spent time with a particular chimpanzee as she was having an affair with the animal.

Her love story has left netizens baffled.

The woman identified as Adie Timmermans, who is a Belgium citizen. She used to visit the zoo every week and spend time with the 38-year-old chimpanzee called Chita. However, he was enclosed in a glass case. The duo used to communicate with each other from opposite sides of the glass and also used to blow kisses at each other.

“I love that animal and he loves me. I haven’t got anything else. Why do they want to take that away,” Timmermans said. “We’re having an affair, I’ll just say.”

She had been visiting the zoo for four years before the authorities had noticed about their love affair and decided to take action against the woman by banning her.

On the other hand, the zoo administration believes that their love affair was causing a hindrance for Chita in developing a relationship with the other chimpanzees in the zoo.

According to the zoo statement, “When Chita is constantly busy with visitors, the other monkeys ignore him and don’t consider him part of the group, even though that is important. He then sits on his own outside of visiting hours.”
