Women's doubles top seeds Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis produced a near-flawless display in their 2nd round clash against Timea Bacsinszky and Chia-Jung Chuang on Saturday, 5 September, to book a place in the 3rd round of the US Open at Flushing Meadows.

The Indo-Swiss pair beat their opponents in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, to book a last 16 match against Michaella Krajicek and Barbora Strycova on Sunday, 6 September .

Meanwhile, India's Rohan Bopanna, pairing up with Romania's Florin Mergea, moved into the next round with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win over the Polish-Mexican duo of Mariusz Frystenberg and Santiago Gonzalez. The sixth seeded duo played some clinical tennis, and managed to prevent their opponents from taking the match into deciding third set.

Bopanna-Mergea will next face the 9th seeded French-Canadian pair of Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Daniel Nestor in the 3rd round.
