'I feel like I'm there' with Venus at Wimbledon: Serena Williams

Serena Williams, who missed the ongoing Wimbledon due to pregnancy, has said that she felt like she was there with her elder sister Venus Williams throughout her journey to her ninth finals of the grass-court tournament.

37-year-old Venus became the oldest player to reach Wimbledon final after she crushed Britain's Johanna Konta 6-4, 6-2 win over in a one-sided semi-final clash.


"I feel like I'm there, in a weird way. I feel like I've been there for the whole journey. We talk every day and we text every day, not about tennis always - our relationship isn't based around tennis so it's just been really great. I miss her a lot and I look forward to her coming back," the WTA website quoted Serena as saying.

Serena and Venus met each other four times in Wimbledon women's singles finals besides also clinching six titles in doubles alongside each other at the All-England Club.

Serena, who is not used to be without her sister during this time of the year, said that she utilised all her energy in persuading Venus to be at her menacing best and clinch the title.

"...All my energy is towards making her want to be great and making her want to win. It's just a totally different feeling," former world number one Serena added.

Venus will now face 14th-seeded Garbine Muguruza of Spain on Saturday with her sixth title on the line.
