Telugu-Bollywood director Krish and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut are teaming up for a biopic based on the life and legacy of the warrior queen of Jhansi, Rani Laxmibai. The film, tentatively titled Manikarnika, stars Kangana Ranaut playing Laxmibai.. The film has script by K.V. Vijayendra Prasad, the writer of Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan fame.
Earlier, there have been reports that Kangana will be co-directing Manikarnika along with Krish.
However, in a recent interview Krish squashed the reports.
Kangana will contribute to Manikarnika only as an actor. She will not interfere in direction, clarifies Krish, who is a National Award winner for his 2015 Telugu film Kanche.
Manikarnika was earlier scheduled to be directed by Ketan Mehta, but Krish has replaced him now. The film also marks the second directorial outing of Krish after the his successful debut with Akshay Kumar starrer Gabbar Is Back.
