India’s Lok Sabha election results were massively covered by Pakistani media. The prominent newspapers of Pakistan not just covered Indian general elections but also gave a place in their editorial and analysis section.

Pakistan’s newspaper ‘The News’ also covered reactions after PM Modi’s historical win in general elections. According to one of the article in newspaper Modi’s victory is the new chapter in the history of Indian democracy. This is uncomfortable figures for struggling opposition and 20 crore Muslim minorities comparing to 2014 general election results.

The newspaper also wrote when the Ayodhya movement was going even at that time BJP was not able to get that many figures. There is no doubt that the success of this victory goes to PM Modi and party president Amit Shah but does Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas really represents their success formula.

According to the Pakistan newspaper after uniting Hindu community and provoking feelings against the Muslim community, BJP not only won the general elections but also smashed the Muslim representatives. With such a majority, the saffron party will definitely change the Indian structure of the constitution, republic and democratic institutions completely.

Whether it is the Election Commission, judiciary, universities or administration no institution has remained untouched by the influence of Sangh Parivar and in the coming years, Modi government’s influence will not only affect these institutions but will also decrease the Muslim representatives and other minorities.

Even in Pakistan’s leading newspaper ‘Dawn,’ an editorial was published titled “After Modi’s Win.” In this editorial, they wrote that the worlds largest democracy has given a message that communal politics has won in India and this will have an impact on the future of the Republic of India. Because of the challenges on the economic front, the predictions of the breaking of Narendra Modi’s vote bank were being made which proved wrong. At the behest of aggressive nationalism, the BJP is going to start the second term of five years, winning a spectacular victory in the Lok Sabha.

Further, they wrote that these results show how voters can be tempted with religious hatred and splitting politics. They added that Modi’s entire election campaign was anti-muslim and anti-Pakistan and just to provoke national sentiments, India did air-strikes within Pakistan.

The editorial read, that now the elections have ended so one can hope that Modi will stop promoting the fiercest Hindu Organisation who make minorities insecure and would move forward towards peace establishment in the country.

In ‘The News’ another editorial it was written that with a big disappointment they have to say that Modi will ideologically take away the country from the values secularism and under his leadership, the destiny of India will be resolved in line with Hindu majority.

Pakistan newspaper not only covered Modi but they also covered Sadhvi Pragya Thakur and called her brand of Hindutva. An article was dedicated to her in The Express Tribune where they wrote that Hindu yogi Pragya Singh Thakur who was accused of bombing Muslims in India has won the BJP ticket from Bhopal. They also added that for the first time a leader who is accused of being involved in terrorist attacks will opt for the Indian Parliament.
