DMK chief and five-time Tamil Nadu CM Karunanidhi to have burial site at Chennai's Marina beach says Madras High Court. DMK the party led by Karunanidhi-- nearly for five decades made a sharp attack on Palanisamy government after their refusal to the DMK's request of a land for a burial of M Karunanidhi's mortal remains next to the grave of his political mentor CN Annadurai along Marina beach.

The DMK's plea for the burial of Kalaignar's body near Anna memorial has been accepted by the Madras High Court. The court further directed Tamil Nadu government to ensure & establish a memorial for Kalaignar's, said V Kannadasan, DMK's lawyer.

The party then approached the Madras High Court against the AIADMK's denial of the burial site to the late DMK president at Marina beach. The DMK said the AIADMK's refusal to permit the burial was plain and simple "political vendetta" and "reeks of pettiness".

DMK ancestor Karunanidhi, who died in a Kauvery hospital on Tuesday evening, has finally got the nod of the court that has allowed to bury his mortal remains at the Anna Memorial along Marina beach. The Madras High Court ruled its order after a rare midnight hearing at the residence of acting chief justice Huluvadi G Ramesh.

The 94-year-old Karunanidhi has been DMK president from last 50 years and now has been in ICU since July 28 when he was rushed following a dip in his blood pressure.

Since the DMK chief has been hospitalized all the senior party leaders, including his daughter Kanimozhi, his son and expelled DMK leader, MK Alagiri, have been visiting the ailing father on daily basis.
