
On 14 May, Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the family of the Akhilesh Pratap Singh, a journalist with Taza TV, who was murdered by unidentified miscreants at Dewaria in Chatra district of Jharkhand on 12 May.
The CM has also sought an action-taken report from Director General of Police DK Pandey in connection with the killing of the 35-year-old journalist.
Singh was shot dead by unknown persons near Dewaria panchayat secretariat on the night of 12 May.
A bandh was observed in Chatra town on 13 May in protest against the killing.

Bihar: Suspects detained for murder of journalist Rajdeo Ranjan
In neighbouring Bihar, two people have been detained in connection with the murder of Hindustan Hindi senior journalist Rajdeo Ranjan in Siwan on 13 May.
Siwan superintendent of police told ANI that the two are being grilled about the brutal murder. However, according to media reports, three people have been detained in connection with the case.
