The election results have now started to come in and as the early trends suggests the Congress party be able to form the government in the 3 Hindi heartland states.

These elections certainly show that the public is now loosing interest in the Hindu-Muslim debate and are looking up to the issues concerning the aam aadmi, like that of unemployment, rural distress, mob lynching, inflation among others.

But, it will be a jolt for the Amit Shah school of election management where the invincible partnership between the party president and PM Narendra Modi is seeing a crack in its formation and certainly there is a churning taking place.

The Malwa region, which is the agrarian hub of the state, and has seen firing on the farmers and killing 6 of them in Mandsaur, has 30 seats to the Congress and 24 to the BJP and 1 to independent. And the story in 2013 was quite different, wherein the BJP had won 49 out of the 55 deciding seats in the Malwa region.

PM Narendra Modi has called for an emergency meeting today and its a signal that the election machine might not be intact and the anti-incumbency has taken a toll on the ruling dispensation.

Kamal Nath has shown the guts to challenge the incumbent CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and as the slogan say, ‘Kamal Nath defeats Kamal in MP’ but this election will definitely have a spill over effect on the 2019 Lok Sabha election. PM Modi’s image has somewhat taken a beating and the “naamdaar” comment might not have benefited the BJP.
