CM Mamata Banerjee orders CID probe into tragic Murshidabad fire

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has ordered a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) enquiry, to investigate the fire that broke out in the Murshidabad Medical College Hospital on 27 August.

Three lives were claimed, and 50 children sustained injuries in the fire that broke out due to a short circuit.

Mamata Baneree has also ordered has been ordered the formation of a committee to probe the fire tragedy at the Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital. she has reportedly been monitoring the situation from Kolkata.

She has also announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs. two lakh for next of kin of those who lost their lives in the incident.

The police, fire department and the health department have been instructed to submit detailed reports in the matter.

The fire, which broke out in the second floor of the hospital, claimed the lives of two nursing staff of the hospital and one infant.

The fire occurred due to a short circuit in one of the rooms of the hospital.
