Mumbai: Thane man murders father over frequent fights with mother

News Agencies | Updated on: 31 August 2016, 18:53 IST

A 28-year-old unemployed man allegedly killed his father in the early hours in Thane today as he was annoyed with the latter's frequent quarrels with his mother, the police said.

Vishnu Arun Alzonde was irked as his father Arun Alzonde (55) often fought with his mother and would beat her up at their home in the district's Kalwa area, the police added.

Vishnu was miffed with his father, who allegedly doubted his wife's character and used to abuse and torture her after coming home in an inebriated state. He also could not tolerate his father's brother and Vishnu's grandmother supported her son and criticised his wife, police PRO Sukhada Narkar said.

The accused, shortly after midnight, attacked his father with a steel rod and killed him.

Vishnu also attacked his uncle Datta Alzonde and grandmother Pamabai Alzonde, who tried to intervene in a bid to save Arun, he said.

The accused was arrested this morning and a case under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against him.

The body has been sent for postmortem, Narkar said.
