Lok Sabha Election 2019: BJP MP Shyam Charan Gupta joins Samajwadi Party; to contest from Banda

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, BJP MP from Allhabad Shyama Charan Gupta has joined Samajwadi Party, and will be contesting the 2019 polls from Banda constituency.

In a major switch, the BJP’s parliamentarian from Allahabad has joined the Opposition’s SP-BSP alliance and will contest against the ruling party. Gupta is the founder of Shyama Group of companies and has earlier successfully fought on the ticket of Samajwadi Party in 2004 Lok Sabha election from Banda.


Although, it was in 2014 when businessman-turned politician joined the BJP and successfully contested from Allahabad, winning by more than 62,000 votes.

The Lok Sabha election is scheduled to begin from April 11 and the counting will happen on May 23.
