Madhuri Dixit has won it. Deepika Padkone's won it too. So have Sridevi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Vidya Balan. What all of these actresses have - barring Ms Rai-Bachchan maybe - is the ability to emote.

Which is not to say that Katrina Kaif is devoid of ANY talent. No sir. She dances well. Looks amazing. And has learned some form of Hindi. Acting, though? The question marks begin... The frustration with her continued presence is understandable as she's endured 13 years. Or rather, we have.

And now it turns out that her acting chops are to be awarded with the Smita Patil Memorial Award. An award named after one of the finest actresses to have ever graced Indian cinema. Her natural ability coupled with her beauty, grace and poise made her immortal. And now Kaif will be the proud recipient of her award.

Because, why not. Crazier things have happened, you know. Like Salman Khan becoming Rio Olympics Goodwill Ambassador and Nita Ambani becoming an IOC committee member. Life is strange, y'all. Deal with it.

The Priyadarshini Academy, which doles out these biennial awards, began in 1984 and definitely, maybe plans to put an end to it post this fiasco.
