8 coconut flavoured cocktails to try this World Coconut Day

Speed News Desk | Updated on: 13 February 2017, 4:07 IST

We don't really need a reason to drink, but World Coconut Day makes for a good excuse. Coconut, with its mild, sweet taste, mixes well with alcohol (especially rum). Here's a list of the best coconut flavoured cocktails you can try.

Coconut cream and coconut milk are used in cocktails more often than coconut water. While canned options of all three are widely available across the market, making them fresh at home is not too hard either.

Pina Colada: The classic beach cocktail in Goa

Pina Colada

Here's how you make it.

> 2 ounces rum

> 3 ounces pineapple juice

> 1 ounce coconut milk

> 1 ounce coconut cream

Mix all ingredients and ice in a blender, serve in a tall glass.

Swimming Pool: You should drink a swimming pool tonight

Swimming Pool

What it contains:

> 1.5 ounces white rum

> 3/4th ounce vodka

> 1/4 ounce Blue Curacao liqueur

> 2 ounces pineapple juice

> 3/4 ounce coconut cream

> 1/4 ounce milk cream

Prepared in a shaker and served in a tulip glass.

Lava Flow: A Hawaiian drink that's delicious as well as so pretty!

Lava Flow
Okay, this one's a bit tricky.

> 1 ounce Malibu Rum

> 1 ounce white rum

> 2 ounce pineapple juice

> 2 ounce coconut cream

> 2 strawberries

> 1 banana

Blend the rum and the strawberries until smooth and pour it in a glass. Separately blend the banana, coconut cream, pineapple juice and ice. Now, to create the flowing lava effect, slowly pour the banana blend, white rum and Malibu rum over the blended strawberries. Serve in a collins glass.

Coco Loco: You need to drink lots of these before you can go loco

Coco Loco

I'm sold. Need to know how to achieve that.

> 1 ounce rum

> 2 ounce coconut cream

> 2 teaspoons sugar

> 2 ounce milk

Blend all the ingredients in together with some crushed ice. Garnish with cinnamon and serve in an old-fashioned glass.

Chi Chi: As simple as it sounds

Chi Chi

What does it take?
