Hours after the crucial summit, the US President Trump said that he and his Russian counterpart Putin spent a great deal of time discussing on the 2016 US election and alleged Russian involvement.
As I said today and many times before, “I have GREAT confidence in MY intelligence people.” However, I also recognize that in order to build a brighter future, we cannot exclusively focus on the past – as the world’s two largest nuclear powers, we must get along! #HELSINKI2018— Donald J. Condemning the conspiracy theories of Russia meddling in the US election, Trump said that he has countless times said “no collusion”. During a joint press conference, Putin, as always, denied all. Trump said, "US-Russia relations had been at their lowest point until the two sat down face-to-face in a highly-anticipated summit," He also added that things have changed four hours ago.
He even said, “We ran a brilliant campaign and that’s why I’m president.”
Just before the`summit started, Trump tweeted, "Our relationship with Russia has NEVER been worse. Many years of US foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!” Agreeing with Trump's tweet, the Russian foreign ministry responded,“We agree.”
While Trump has denied any contact with the Russian President, Putin said, "Trump has maintained regular contact through phone calls." He also added that the time has come to have a thorough discussion on various international problems and sensitive issues.”
