Youth suffers severe burns after girlfriend attacks him with acid

A 23-year-old boy sustained grave burns on Friday, when he was attacked with acid by his girlfriend in Haryana’s Hisar, According to a report on Monday. After a police complaint by the youth, the accused, has been identified as Manisha, she was nabbed on Sunday.

The complainant, identified as Shubham, said that Manisha, who is the daughter of one of his relatives, threw acid on him after he refused to marry her. He said that after meeting barely once or twice, Manisha asked him to tie the knot with her. He, however, told her that he would not marry her without his family’s permission.


Nevertheless, the accused woman, a native of Hisar’s Surya Nagar area, has claimed that the youth was in possession of some offensive images of her sister and she wanted him to delete them.

On the basis of Shubham’s complaint, a case has been registered under Indian Penal Code Section 326 A (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by use of acid, etc) and Manisha was taken into police custody. The girl had asked him to delete those images. She was presented in a court and was sent to judicial custody.

This comes few days after a 19-year-old girl allegedly killed herself by drinking toilet cleaner in Uttar Prradesh’s Agra. According to reports, the teenager, a student of twelfth standard, took the unfortunate step after three local men “mentally harassed” her by passing smutty comments and threatening to abduct her.

The girl gobbled toilet cleaner at her house in Agra and at around 6 pm on Thursday last week. She was taken to a private hospital from where was referred to SN Medical College. The girl passsed away the next day. Following this, the cops lodged a case based on her father's complaint.
