In a shocking incident reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, a married man was allegedly set on fire for stalking his ex-lover on Monday. The incident happened in Bareilly’s Bahedi area. The victim was taken to a private hospital in a dire state. The man allegedly used to stalk the 20-year-old girl.

The victim was a native of Bareilly’s Faridpur. The accused man was admitted to a private hospital and is said to be in a serious state.

The 20-year-old girl and the man used to be in a relationship. The girl, however, ended her love affair with the man when she came to know that he was married and had a one-year-old son. In spite of this, the man continued stalking the girl.

On Monday, the man made an effort to get into the girl's house, The Times of India reported. The girl alleged that the man set himself on fire after she refused to see him. A caller notified the police and claimed that the man set himself ablaze.

Acting in response to the caller, a police team was sent to the spot and the man was rushed to a nearby hospital. Bareilly SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan stated, "The incident took place outside the house of a 20-year-old girl, who is said to be his ex-girlfriend. The man and his brother claimed that he was set on fire by the girl's father and brother. As of now, we have registered an FIR and have been investigating the matter. "
