In a tragic incident, a one-year-old sickly infant drew his last breath in an 108 ambulance after the pharmacist and driver allegedly pulled over for a lengthy lunch time paying no heed to the request of the child’s mother.

The infant was bein rushed to SCB Medical Colllege and Hospital in Cuttack when the episode took place. The kid was admitted to PRM Medical Collage and Hospital on Sunday. As his state worsened, the doctors referred him to SCB Medical College and Hospital and an ambulance was organized.

On the way to Cuttack, the driver and the pharmacist pulled over at KC Pur village and got down to have lunch. Even when the infant’s mother Geta Behari implored them to go on with the journey, they took no notice of her. The one-and-a-half hour stop aggravated the infant’s condition and he was taken to KC Pur CHC where the doctors declared dead on arrival.

The infant’s mother, in a complaint filed with KC Pur police station, laid the blame on the driver and pharmacist for the demise of her son. Betnoti IIC Ashok Kumar Nayak stated that a case has been lodged and investigation into the matter is underway.
