In pics: intensifying monsoons over India spell more trouble for Gaya

With the monsoons intensifying once again over several parts of Bihar, particularly Gaya, the flood situation has just worsened further. Patna has received 41mm of rain followed by Supaul at 46.2mm.

The State Disaster Response Funds (SDRF) is still carrying out rescue operations to help people in the area.

The flood has affected 40 lakh people in 2,189 villages of 613 panchayats covering 79 blocks in 12 districts.

According to reports, the floods have damaged more than 24,000 houses and destroyed standing crops planted in over 3,08,000 hectares of land.

Till now over three lakh people have been evacuated from Patna, Vaishali, Saran, Buxar, Khagaria, Munger, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur, Begusaria, Samastipur, Lakhisaria and Katihar.

Around 1.98 lakh people have been taken to flood shelters in 378 camps and 86 cattle have died so far.
