Haryana: Father allegedly rapes 23-year-old mentally challenged daughter in Panchkula district

In an appalling incident, a 23-year-old, who was mentally unstable, was allegedly raped by her own father in Panchkula district in Haryana. The incident was brought to notice when the victim gave birth to a still child at a hospital where she was admitted because of stomach pain.

The incident happened within the jurisdiction of Sector 18 Police Station. A police team came to the hospital to probe the matter after getting information from the hospital authorities. As per the police, the accused had been raping his daughter from the last several mounths. He even sexually exploited her while she was pregnant.

During the probe, the family of the victim was not able to provide a satisfactory response regarding her pregnancy. The official investigating the case became suspicious of the survivor’s father impregnating her. Upon investigating, the father of the victim confessed to having raped his mentally challenged child for for over a year.

Sector 19 Police Post in charge ASI Gulab Singh and sub-inspector Neha Chauhan later stated the said that they questioned the survivor and she also named her father in the crime. After recording her statement, the accused was taken into custody on rape charges. The survivor also told the investigating officials that the other members of her family were not aware of her father’s atrocious act, as per a report of The TOI.

In another similar incident, an 18-year-old was allegedly raped by her father in Morena district in Madhya Pradesh. The girl also levelled allegations against her mother, claiming that she aided him in the sexual assault. The girl claimed that her father said that it would make things less painful for her after marriage. After the sexual assault, the victim was allegedly lock inside a room by her parents. The victim’s elder sister called 1098 helpline and got her rescued.
