Rohit Sharma breaks Sourav Ganguly's World Cup record; equals Kumar Sangakkara

Rohit Sharma breaks former India captain Sourav Ganguly’s World Cup record as he scored his fourth century of the tournament. Rohit Sharma is now the highest run-scorer in World Cup 2019 with 540 runs.

Sourav Ganguly held the record for the most number of centuries in World Cup by an Indian batsman, Rohit Sharma with his four broke the record. Ganguly scored three in 2003 World Cup. Rohit Sharma equalled Ganguly’s record in India’s previous match against England.


 

Kumar Sangakkara has the highest centuries in a World Cup as he scored four in 2015 World Cup. Rohit Sharma equalled the record of legendary Sri Lankan batsman. Sharma scored 122* against South Africa, 140 against Pakistan, 102 against England and now 104 against Bangladesh.

Rohit Sharma now has the second highest runs by any batsman in a World Cup. Sachin Tendulkar has the highest runs in a World Cup as he scored 673 in 2003 edition.
