Petrol, Diesel Prices Today: Check out new rates in four major cities

The state run oil marketing firms decreased fuel prices on Thursday. The petrol and diesel rates were lowered by up to 20 paise per litre across the major cities, In the national capital, the prices of petrol were slashed to Rs 81.40 per litre from Rs 81.55 per litre and diesel rates were cut to Rs 72.37 per litre from Rs 72.56 per litre, according to data from Indian Oil Corporation.

In Mumbai, the price of petrol stood at Rs 88.07 per litre from 88.21 per litre and diesel at Rs 77.73 per litre from Rs 79.05 per litre on Thursday.

State-run oil marketing companies review petrol and diesel rates in different parts of the country on a daily basis, and enforce any revisions at fuel pumps with effect from 6 am.

At the same time, oil price spiraled above 4% on Wednesday, after a drawdown in US crude and gasoline inventories and while Hurricane Sally forced a swath of offshore output production.
