Baahubali visual effects team to work for Rajinikanth's Robot 2

Rajinikanth will soon undergo a look test for the sequel for his 2010 film on artificial intelligence, Robot. The superstar is currently shooting in Bangkok for his upcoming film Kabali - in which he will be seen as a gangster.

Ace director Shankar will helm the sequel to Robot, which is expected to go on floors in March-April next year. The team has already started on pre-production work for the same.

AR Rahman will compose the music for the film. For the female lead, Shankar has cast Amy Jackson - who starred in his last blockbuster I opposite Vikram. Shankar has previously revealed that the story of Robot 2 has been slightly inspired by the Ramayana.

The director also roped in senior Hollywood makeup artist, and prosthetics ace, Sean Foot, who is best known for his work in Avatar. Foot will take care of Rajnikanth's look in the much-anticipated film which is expected to be released in 2017.

Visual effects were a major highlight in the first installment of Robot. In order to take things a few notches higher, Shankar has roped in Srinivas Mohan, who is responsible for the visual effects of Rajamouli's epic saga Baahubali.

Baahubali, which won over global audiences earlier this year, received much acclaim for its spectacular visuals.

It is safe to say that Shankar is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that Robot 2 meets audience's expectations.
