Here's how we think Akshay Kumar's Housefull 3 will perform at the Box-Office

Housefull 3, the third installment of the successful Housefull franchise, stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Lisa Haydon, Nargis Fakhri, Boman Irani, and Jackie Shroff. The comedy film has been directed by Sajid Farhad.

What may work for the film?

As the trailer and dialogue promo's had suggested, Housefull 3 is full of gags and one-liners wherein a few of them do manage to tickle your funny bone. The film does have some well-directed comic sequences, especially the confusion sequences at the swimming pool and dining table.

Akshay Kumar manages to overshadow the entire cast with his impeccable comic timing. His transformation sequences from Sandy to Sundi are hilarious, to say the least. A few one-liners (the funny ones) have Akshay's patent on them.

What may not work for the film?

Like we mentioned earlier, Housefull 3 is full of gags; however, not many actually make you laugh. It is obvious that the director duo, Sajid-Farhad, tried too hard to 'create' comic sequences. Surprisingly, Riteish Deshmukh does not seem to be in his element and it appears as though the actor sleep walked through major sequences of the film.

While Housefull 2 had some genuinely hilarious moments, this one lacks the 'laugh out loud' sequences.

Will it do well at the ticket window?

Housefull has managed to build its own brand of comedy over the years and the same would help Housefull 3 get a reasonable opening at the Box-Office. Despite it being an Akshay Kumar show, the film does not have much to offer and might fail to keep the audience engrossed for 2 hours, 11 minutes.

Ideally, Housefull 3 should have become the highest-grossing comedy film of all time in Bollywood surpassing 2011 blockbuster, Ready (Rs 123 crore collections). However, the chances now look bleak.

The film released on 3,700 screens in India. Performance in the night shows will decide if the film emerges the biggest opener of the year surpassing Fan (Rs 19.20 crore) or falls a bit short.

Box-Office Prediction:

  • Day One: Rs 18 - 19 crore
  • Weekend: Rs 59 crore
  • Life Time: Rs 110 crore

The expected verdict of Housefull 3 at the Box-Office is 'Average'.

PS: Housefull 2 (2012) raked in Rs 112 crore at the Indian Box-Office, it would be interesting to see if Housefull 3 manages to breach past that or no.
