After M S Dhoni, Sushant Singh Rajput in Murlikant Petkar Biopic

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who is currently busy shooting for the MS Dhoni biopic, directed by Neerja Pandey, has bagged yet another biopic. The actor, who has a slew of interesting films lined up including Raabta and Paani, will essay the character of athlete Murlikant Petkar in this biopic.

To be directed by Prashant Singh, the movie will go on floors in mid-2017 and will hit the big screens in the last quarter of 2017. Sushant Singh Rajput confirmed the news to Mumbai Mirror and said,

"I was amazed by his journey and immediately agreed that these stories need to be told. Petkar's journey is extra-ordinary and so compelling that it can change many lives by motivating people to accomplish the unthinkable. I am extremely excited to be associated with this project from its nascent stage."

The movie is tentatively titled Murli: The Unsung Hero and Sushant Singh Rajput was the first and only choice for the biopic.

Who is Murlikant Petkar?

Murlikant Petkar won the gold at the 1970 Commonwealth Games and the Paralympics in Germany in 1972. He was an army officer-turned-sportsman. Petkar also set a world record in freestyle swimming in 1972.
