
Top seeded Indo-Swiss pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis produced another clinical display at Flushing Meadwos, as they comfortably overcame Michaella Krajicek and Barbora Strycova in a 3rd round encounter to reach the quarter-finals of the US Open women's doubles event.
Mirza and Hingis smashed 23 winners as they claimed a 6-3, 6-0 win over the 13th seeded Dutch-Czech pair in a contest that lasted over an hour.
The Indo-Swiss duo, who bagged the Wimbledon crown in July, will next face the Taiwanese pair of Yung-Jan Chan and Hao-Ching Chan in the quarters.
Meanwhile, in the men's doubles category, the Indo-Romanian duo of Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea will take on Daniel Nestor and Edouard Roger-Vasselin on Monday, 7 September.
