The Indo-Romanian duo of Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea came back from set down in their 3rd round encounter on Monday, 7 September, to advance into the quarter-finals of the US Open men's doubles event at Flushing Meadows.

The sixth seeded pair smashed 10 aces and 49 winners to claim a 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-3 win over the Canadian-French duo of Daniel Nestor and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in two hours and six minutes.

Bopanna and Mergea, who are chasing their maiden Grand Slam title, will next take on the unseeded team of Dominic Inglot and Robert Lindstedt, who defeated Tommy Haas and Radek Stepanek in their 3rd round match.
