Indian tennis player Saketh Myneni advanced to the main draw of the US Open after a dominant straight-sets victory in the third round of the qualifiers in New York on 26 August.

Saketh, ranked 143rd in the world, produced an imperious form as he defeated Serbia's Pedja Krstin 6-3, 6-0 in a men's singles contest that lasted 56 minutes.

This will be Saketh's maiden Grand Slam appearance where he will face World No. 48 Jiri Vesely in the opening round. He may face world number one Novak Djokovic if he wins the first round.

Yuki Bhambri was the last Indian to have played in the main draw of a major tournament. He played in the 2015 Australian Open where he lost to Andy Murray in the first round.
