In what could be termed as another feather in the hat for world number one Novak Djokovic, the Serbian has been crowned the Laureus Sportsman of the Year award for the second consecutive year.

The 28-year-old clinched the prestigious title at a glitzy ceremony in Berlin after beating a host of sports stars including American basketball player Stephan Curry, Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, second-ranked golfer Jordan Spieth and Argentine footballer Lionel Messi.

Reflecting on his feat, Djokovic's coach Boris Becker believes that Djokovic deserved the award as he claimed three out of four Grand Slams and won 82 out of 88 matches he had played.

Meanwhile, top-ranked tennis star Serena Williams bagged the World Sportswoman of the Year award.
