While walking down a scary road or feeling unsafe during a cab ride, there will be a panic button in your mobile from 1 January 2017.
In a significant push to the women's safety in the nation, the mobile manufacturers have decided to produce the specific feature that will be made as a mandatory key in all smartphone devices manufactured for India.
A notifications regarding the same will be issued very soon, a Times of India report said.
To activate the panic button, the users just have to long press a pre-defined set of buttons which will send an emergency message to the friends and family. These emergency numbers will have to be saved in advance. The panic message will also carry the location of the mobile. The phone will use network and GPS setting to trace the exact location of the user.
The very important move came after a series of long-talk between government and telecom companies. The project will be reportedly funded through the Nirbhaya fund. However, no decision has been taken for the existing smartphones.
