Kota (Rajasthan): In a significant development, the Western Central Railway has upgraded its signalling system, with 9 stations, including Fatehsingh Pura station in Kota division, getting electronic interlocking in just two months.

According to Senior DCM Rohit Malviya, electronic interlocking will enhance safety, security, and operational efficiency in train operations. The old interlocking system is being replaced with a new one under the direction of the Principal Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineer.

The railway is digitising, modernising, and increasing the safety of train operations through electronic interlocking. In the financial year 2023-24, a total of 23 stations have been upgraded with new electronic interlocking systems in the three divisions of Western Central Railway. Nine stations have received electronic interlocking commissioning in the current financial year.

Additionally, block instruments have been installed in the doubling of rail lines to ensure safe operations. This has increased operational capacity, efficiency, and new signal routes, resulting in an increase in railway operations and revenue. The system requires less space and is modern, successful, and secure. Moreover, the system automatically detects any failures.
