CNN news anchor breaks down in tears reporting live on Buffalo mass shooting [Watch]

In a horrifying incident that took place in Buffalo, US, an 18-year-old fatally shot ten people at a supermarket. The racially driven attack transpired on Saturday, 14th May. The boy, identified as Payton Gendron took the lives of 10 people and injured three at the Tops Friendly Market.

Reporting live on the shooting incident from outside the crime spot, a CNN news anchor, identified as Victor Blackwell broke down in tears on camera. The video of the whole episode was shared on Twitter by Mike Sington, Senior Executive at NBC Universal.


In the video, The news reporter can be seen talking to one of the eyewitnesses of the incident. The woman said that she has always taught her daughter to be “small and invisible”. Going back to his colleague at the studio, Alisyn Camerota, Blackwell said, “I was counting in the car, talking with my producer. I’ve done 15 of these.”

“We keep having conversations about it. Democrats will say guns, Republicans will say mental health, and nothing will change. And I’ll probably do another one this year,” he added. We’ll get into a political conversation later, but is this the way we’re supposed to live? Are we destined to just keep doing this, city after city?” Victor asked, holding back tears.

After being shared on the internet, the video garnered around 2 million views. It also brought about a wave of reactions from netizens.

“Absolutely heartbreaking and he told no lies at all. This is what we’ve become...and we need to make a change,” a user wrote.
