Are there aliens on the Red Planet that want to contact us by making enormous drawings similar to Earth's Nazca Lines? While as of now, there are no signs of extraterrestrials in space, NASA astronomers have discovered a strange rock formation on Mars resembling a bear's face.
This interesting geological formation, captured by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, has triggered online pareidolia - the human tendency to perceive random patterns as familiar objects.
One of the researchers at the University of Arizona shared this amazing picture, which has amazed the internet. These researchers run the HiRise (High Resolution Imaging Experiment) camera aboard the orbiter.

This feature looks a bit like a bear’s face. What is it really?

“There’s a hill with a V-shaped collapse structure (the nose), two craters (the eyes), and a circular fracture pattern (the head),” UOA professor Alfred McEwen said in a statement.
While explaining the circular fracture pattern, he said, “The circular fracture pattern might be due to the settling of a deposit over a buried impact crater. Maybe the nose is a volcanic or mud vent and the deposit could be lava or mud flows?”

Measuring nearly 2,000 metres across, the bear-like feature found in December 2022 wasn't the first MRO discovery to intrigue scientists.
This bear-like face was spotted by the mars obiter in December 2022. Since its launch, the expedition to study the surface of the Red Planet is in its 17th year. Previously, the orbiter sent image of a Happy Face Crater that also went viral on internet.
