14th Chennai International Film Festival postponed to 2017

The 14th Chennai International Film Festival has been postponed. The event, which was scheduled to happen between 16 December to 22 December has been postponed to January 2017.

E.Thangaraj, the event director has issued a press release statement;

"As a mark of respect to the sad demise of our beloved former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Puratchi Thalaivi AMMA, the iron lady who has given support to the Chennai International Film Festival continuously for the last five years, Executive Committee of Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation has decided to postpone the 14th Chennai International Film Festival to 5th to 12th January 2017. We seek the support and cooperation from all of you like previous years".

Reportedly, the Chennai International Film Festival will have the screening of films selected for the Indian Panorama and the 2015 Oscar winning Best Foreign Language films as well. Also, 12 Tamil films are slated to be screened under competitive category including Priyadarshan's Sila Samayangalil and Suriya's 24.
