Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu advanced to the semifinals of the Macau Open Grand Prix after defeating China's Chen Yufei in a gruelling women's singles contest on Friday, 27 November.
The two-time World Championship bronze medallist claimed a 21-13, 18-21, 21-14 win over Yufei in a 54-minute thriller to secure a berth in the last four.
Sindhu started the match well, and had little trouble in winning the first game, as Yufei struggled to match Sindhu's offense.
In the second game, however, a string of uncharacteristic errors by Sindhu helped Yufei force the match into a decisive third game.
In what turned out to be a fairly easy third game for Sindhu, the Indian shuttler dominated her Chinese opponent using an aggressive approach to book a place in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, B. Sai Praneeth bowed out of the tournament after going down 16-21, 23-21, 13-21 against Malaysia's Goh Soon Huat in men's singles.
