Indian shuttler Ajay Jayaram had to settle for the runner-up place at the Korea Open on Sunday, 20 September, after losing the final to World no 1 Chen Long. The Chinese star ran out a comfortable winner in two games, 21-14, 21-13.

Jayaram and Long had been neck-and-neck in the first game at one point, and were tied at 9-9. However, Long upped his game to close out the first set at 21-14. The World no 1 made a slow start to the second game, but managed to come back strongly and claim it 21-13, and lift the title in the process.

The defeat brings to an end a stunning campaign for World no 32 Ajay Jayaram, who had defeated Taiwanese star Chou Tien Chen, ranked 25 places above him, in the semi-final.
