Watch Video: Dalit boys stripped, brutally beaten, paraded naked in Maharashtra's Jalgaon for swimming in a village well

In a shocking incident, three minor Dalit boys were allegedly molested by the villager's of Maharashtra's Jalgaon district's Vakadi village and were paraded naked for swimming in a village well. The incident took place on the 10th of June and came into limelight after a video of the alleged incident went viral on social media. Maharashtra Minister for Social Justice Dilip Kamble said, “Two persons have already been arrested. An investigation is underway.”

According to report, last Sunday, the Dalit minor kids, aged around 12-14 year, jumped into the village well to beat the scorching heat. However, some locals learnt of it and a large number of people, including many allegedly from upper castes, gathered near the well and pulled them out. They were molested before some persons allegedly forced the boys to strip off and paraded nude around the village.


State Minister for Revenue Chandrakant Patil assured action under the SC/ST Act. “Such incidents cannot be tolerated,” he said. Union Social Welfare Minister Ramdas Athawale condemned the incident and demanded “stringent action against the perpetrators”. “The government should take strict against those responsible for subjecting the boys to such atrocities,” he said.

Maharashtra social justice minister Dilip Kamble told media persons that two persons have been arrested and further investigations are underway. In a statement issued by Maharashtra Congress president Ashok Chavan said, “Atrocities against Dalits have increased after the BJP came to power. Several instances of attacks against Dalits across states have been reported. The government is not doing enough to act against those who are attacking Dalits.”
