UPPSC can now conduct the mains exam; SC refuses Allahabad HC appeal to re-evaluate answer sheets

A good news for the candidates who are going to appear for the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) mains exam. Now, UPPSC mains exam will be conducted on 18th June 2018 for the different positions now. As Supreme Court on 14th June allowed its appeal challenging Allahabad High Court order directing re-evaluation of the answer sheets.

Earlier, the Allahabad High Court had ordered to re-evaluate the answer sheets of the candidates on the basis of correct answers to the questions. But, on Thursday Supreme Court has refused the re-evaluation decision announced by the high court.


A vacation bench of Justice Uday Umesh Lalit and Justice Deepak Gupta had refused the order of the high court and gave the approval to the plea filed by UPPSC.

 

UPPSC preliminary examinations were conducted in 2017 while the mains examination will be held on 18th June 2018.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission mains examination likely to be conducted on 18th May 2018 due to the Allahabad High Court order to re-evaluate the answer sheet of the exam.

Now, Supreme Court has finally announced the order to re-schedule the mains exam on 18th June 2018.

The judge's bench said that when there is a conflicting view then the court must bow down to the opinion of the experts. The bench also that judges can’t be an expert in all the fields and, therefore, they must exercise great restraint and should not overstep their jurisdiction to upset the opinion of the experts.
